Traveling can be a challenge, especially during a pandemic. But just the same, the hustle and bustle of city life can significantly take a toll on health. Hence, taking a vacation is still an excellent option to somehow relax the mind and free it from worries even for a short while.
It does not matter whether you will be traveling to someplace overseas or just a distance from your home. What matters is that you will get the relaxation you need, free your mind from worries, and you get to enjoy the retreat you have planned for yourself. Even during COVID-19, there are still ways to take your needed break, especially when some countries and localities have eased up some of their restrictions when it comes to travel.
For men who are now looking for some places to unwind, below are some tips on how to get the most out of your day and have a memorable staycation even for a little while.
Home is Still the Best
Indeed, most of us have been cooped up inside our homes for months when the pandemic hit. Many are probably already tired of not going anywhere but their bathrooms, kitchens, and living rooms. But do you know that you can still make the most out of your home and turn it into a superb place for staycation? Yep, you read it right! Your home can become your haven of relaxation to ease all the tensions you are feeling in the past several months.
First, declutter your home and remove those things that make it look crowded and suffocating. When you have gotten rid of the clutter, you can then start making subtle changes to your home interior’s designs. For instance, instead of your usual curtains, you can get new commercial office window blinds or shades that can make your interior look a bit more elegant.
You can start with your room or the living room. For an ambiance that is like that of a hotel, you can choose to install draperies, valances, or draw curtains. If you want your place to have a manly ambiance, you can easily choose designs that are made for the male bravado. You do not have to spend much on these items, as there are beautifully crafted window treatments that are easy to the wallet.
Apply fresh new paint on walls if you want. This can help give your interior a new appearance. You can also rearrange your furniture to complete your interior’s resort look. Adding rugs and a few carpets can also help give your home a new attractive appearance, perfect for a staycation in your own place.
Camp Out
If you have a front or backyard big enough to house a camping tent, then set it up for an overnight staycation. Even if you are just a few steps away from your house doors, spending the night under the starry night sky can make you feel like you are worlds away. You can also get some barbecue cooking on the grill to complete your setup. Setting up a bonfire can also take the atmosphere up a notch.
If camping outside your home is not your thing or you still want to get away to someplace not within your property, try checking with your local area if they have a camping spot open for visitors. Some localities have already eased up their restrictions and have some amenities open to accommodate a few visitors.
Trade Homes for a Day
If you are really tired of being cooped up in your home all the time and no amount of redecorating can make you feel relaxed, why not ask some willing friends to swap homes for a short staycation? Your friends can stay in your home for a day or two and you can stay in theirs while they are at your home. If a full swap is not possible, you can offer them rooms to stay in your home and provide them with bed and breakfast amenities. At the same time, you can also ask them the same treatment while you swap places and stay in their home.
Go on a Road Trip
With the pandemic still raging across the continents, it can be hard to organize a road trip with some of your closest friends and get to somewhere interesting. But this can still be done if your locality allows short travels. Get your engines running and go around the neighborhood. Visit places in your locality that allow a few visitors and take your time exploring. If the usual days have taken you to faraway places and gave you beautiful memories, there may also be wonderful areas in your neighborhood that are worth checking out but you have not had time to visit and admire before.
You do not have to go far from home to get that needed relaxation. If there is one thing that the new normal has taught us, it is that there are always ways to make the most out of what we have and that our home and the nearby places surrounding it are still the best places to unwind when we are already too tired of our everyday routine.
